DAAD PhD Scholarships 2018

The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) works to improve food security and reduce poverty in developing countries through research for better and more sustainable use of livestock. ILRI as a member of the CGIAR Consortium which works for a food-secure future.



DAAD is a publicly funded self-governing organisation of the institutions of higher education in Germany which promotes international academic exchange as well as educational co-operation with developing countries through a variety of funding and scholarship programmes.

ILRI is collaborating with DAAD by offering up to 7 in- country, in-region PhD scholarships in 2018 through a co-funding arrangement. ILRI through its graduate fellowship program will provide an opportunity for successful candidates from Sub-Saharan African countries (SSA) to undertake quality research-for-development (R4D); access ILRI’s cutting edge research facilities and  receive mentorship from ILRI scientists within the following broad ILRI Program areas;

 

·         Animal and Human Health

·         Biosciences eastern and central Africa (BecA) ILRI Hub

·         Feed and Forage Development

·         Impact at Scale

·         Livestock Genetics

·         Policies, Institutions and Livelihoods

·         Sustainable Livestock Systems

Successful candidates will be expected to commence their PhD programs earliest 1st September 2018.
