Animal Disease Management

Animal Disease Management

In many low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), access to essential animal health technologies — such as drugs, diagnostic tools, and vaccines — is often limited, unaffordable, or compromised in quality. ILRI’s animal disease management research addresses these challenges through two complementary approaches: Livestock Health Technologies, which focuses on laboratory-based research to develop innovative animal health products, and Livestock Population Health, which emphasizes field-based interventions aimed at improving livelihoods through enhanced animal health management, improved animal welfare, and evidence-informed animal health policies. By combining innovation with practical implementation, ILRI works to bridge the gap between scientific discovery and real-world impact in LMICs.
