Paula Dominguez-Salas
Assistant professor at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine
Paula Dominguez-Salas is Assistant Professor in Nutrition-sensitive agriculture at the Nutrition Group of the LSHTM, as a joint appointment with ILRI.
Her background is a Veterinary degree (in animal productions) and another in Food Sciences and Technology. Her interdisciplinary research focuses on the links between livestock food value chains, food safety and maternal and child nutrition in low-income population, including gender.
She is at present leading a project on Drivers of choice of animal-source foods in Kenya, and is co-investigator in MoreMilk in Kenya and Tanzania, all funded by DFID and Gates, as well as in the GCRF Stunting hub (in Senegal, India and Indonesia).
These and previous projects investigate how animal-source food systems can, through different pathways, leverage nutrition outcomes. Her previous research focused in maternal nutrition during pregnancy and epigenetic outcomes in their offspring. Her regional experience focuses mostly in West and East Africa and Latin America, and recently also in South East Asia.
