Tanaya DuttaGupta

Post Doctoral Fellow-Social Differentiation and Climate Change

Tanaya DuttaGupta is a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Sustainable Livestock Systems program since January 2023. Her research broadly focuses on socially differentiated impacts, capacities and practices related to climate change in Africa and South Asia. Prior to joining ILRI, Tanaya worked as a Specialist with CGIAR FOCUS Climate Security at the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT. Tanaya holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of California, Davis, USA. Her dissertation research examines mobilities, inequalities and bordering processes in Bangladesh and India in the context of climate and other crises, including COVID-19 and conflict. Tanaya has around ten years of experience in designing and conducting qualitative research, and her educational background includes MA in Sociology from the University of California, Davis, with specializations in political sociology and migration, MA in Geography from Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi, Delhi, and BSc in Geography from Presidency College, University of Calcutta, Kolkata, India.
