Mohammed Shamsuddin
Senior Animal Production and Health Officer in the FAO Regional Office for Africa.
He leads the FAO Africa Regional Programme for Animal Production Systems and One Health and is the FAO focal point for animal production and health, One Health, and livestock-related matters in the Sub-Saharan African region.
He represents FAO in the regional secretariats of the Quadripartite and the FAO-WOAH Global Framework for the Progressive Control of Transboundary Animal Diseases.
Shamsuddin is a veterinarian. He holds a DVM and an MSc in veterinary science from the Bangladesh Agricultural University and a PhD in animal reproduction from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. He has over 36 years of experience in enhancing animal production and health through his work in more than 48 countries in Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, and Latin America. He conducted more than 50 expert missions in 32 countries around the World.
Shamsuddin began his career in FAO as a Livestock Officer in the FAO Investment Centre in January 2019. Earlier, he served the Joint FAO/IAEA Division of Nuclear Techniques in Food and Agriculture in Vienna as a Technical Officer for more than six years. Before that, he was a professor at Bangladesh Agricultural University.
