Lilian Otoigo

Research Officer - One Health Initiative

Lilian Otoigo coordinates field activities for the Slaughterhouse Hygiene Study in Western Kenya, which is evaluating low-cost approaches of reducing microbial contamination of meat by improving hygiene and meat handling practices among slaughterhouse workers. She holds Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology from Moi University and a Master’s degree in Public Health (Epidemiology and Population Health) from Maseno University. Prior to joining ILRI, she was a Research Officer at the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) for the African Research Culture Project. She has over eight years experience conducting health research in communities and has worked with various organizations focusing on human health. Her main areas of interest are water quality, disease prevention and project management.
