Deputy Director General Research and Innovation

Dr. Kausche is the Deputy Director General for Research and Development at the International Livestock Institute (ILRI).

With over 30 years of experience as a highly successful global executive in the Animal Health Industry, Dr. Kausche brings to ILRI a wide range of technical and leadership abilities. He is skilled in diverse areas ranging from R&D to Sales, and for many years he was a member of executive committees of major animal health companies, successfully managing multi billion dollar businesses, leading diverse teams, and ensuring timely achievement of team objectives across geographical, language and cultural barriers. In addition, he frequently led diversity initiatives to recruit and mentor women and other minorities in leadership positions.

He currently serves as a scientific advisor for startups, established and private equity companies, and as a member on  several industry boards.  Dr. Kausche has repeatedly been recognized for skillfully leading and improving R&D organizations from Animal Health to Consumer Health Over-the-Counter (OTC) products.

Dr. Kausche has an in-depth understanding of the global animal health drug and vaccine research and development and registration requirements. He has a proven track record of re-designing large R&D organizations, creating significant improvements in R&D governance, pipeline value and cross-functional collaboration between R&D and other parts of the business.
