Optimization and genotyping of DNA samples of 40 sheep populations from seven countries of the CRP using FAO/ISAG recommended panel of microsatellite DNA makers
Fifteen microsatellite DNA markers will be optimized to establish a standard operational protocol for genotyping in a basic molecular laboratory that can be shared and used in all member state countries’ facility. 1600 sheep DNA samples (40 samples/per population, in a total of 36 sheep populations collected in seven member state countries plus four reference populations to allow combinations and analysis of the CRP, ILRI and ECONOGENE genetic databases) will be centrally genotyped and analysed.
Objectives/Goals
The aim of this project is to optimize 15 of the FAO/ISAG panel of 30 microsatellite DNA markers and to use them for genotyping all the sheep sampling collected so far from the seven member states.
