Antimicrobial resistance with a One Health approach in Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia and Tanzania (ROHOKET)
This project aims to strengthen the capacities of Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania to prevent and respond to the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance through a One Health approach.
Antimicrobial resistance is a growing threat globally, with countries in Africa bearing a disproportionate burden of this public health threat. The project seeks to support the implementation of developed National Action Plans on antimicrobial resistance in the four countries.
The project is implemented by a consortium of six partners:
- Ethiopian Public Health Institute
- International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI)
- Kenya Medical Research Institute
- Kenya Red Cross Society
- Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences
- Makerere University
ILRI supports three objectives related to animal health:
- strengthening field and laboratory systems for antimicrobial resistance and antimicrobial use surveillance;
- epidemiological and data analysis; and
- quality microbiological testing.
