Patrick Caron

Member of the ILRI Board since September 2020, Patrick Caron is the Vice Chair of the CGIAR Integrated Partnership Board. He has a deep understanding of the interface between science and policy, and leadership experience in steering, negotiating and forging alliances across groups with diverging views and perspectives. Geograph and senior researcher at Cirad where he has been General Director for Research and Strategy (2010-2016), he is President of Agropolis International, a community with 45 member institutions, and Director of the Montpellier University MAK’IT Institute (Montpellier Advanced Knowledge Institute on Transitions).  He has been the Chairperson of the High Level Panel of Experts of the UN Committee for world Food Security (HLPE-FSN, 2015-2019), Vice-President for International Affairs at the University of Montpellier (2019-2023) and a member of the Science Group for the 2021 UN Food System Summit.
