Nam Luong

PhD Fellow

Nam Luong started his PhD graduate fellowship for ICT4Health project at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) under the Animal and Human Health program on 2 October 2023. Nam studied in Vietnam National University of Agriculture with dual major Veterinary Medicine and Aquaculture from 2012 to 2018. In 2020, Nam gained his Master’s degree in “Animal Health and Biomedical Science” in Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand. Coming back Vietnam in June 2022, Nam worked for 5 months at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) as a SEAOHUN fellow before moving to a new position as project coordinator in Institute for Environmental Health and Sustainable Development (IEHSD), Vietnam. His experience is relevant to animal health/ One Health, especially topics in Zoonosis diseases, Food safety and AMR. He is also a veterinarian who works on diagnosis, prevention and treatment in pets (dogs and cats).

As PhD fellow for ICT4Health project, Nam plans to support to develop a protocol for screening human and animal blood and serum samples for zoonotic diseases; design and implementation of field survey, together with developing a survey for risk factors, knowledge, attitude and practices.
