Musa Mulongo, a Senior Scientist, joined ILRI as Platform Coordinator for the Transforming Animal Health Services and Solutions for LMICs (TAHSSL) in June 2020. From September 2023, Musa is the interim Team Leader for Vaccines and Diagnostics in the Animal and Human Health Program. Previously, he was a Senior Program Specialist with the multi-donor Livestock Vaccine Innovation Fund (LVIF) of the International Development and Research Centre (IDRC) in Ottawa Canada. In this role, he was responsible for the technical oversight of a multi-million-dollar portfolio of cutting-edge vaccine discovery and development projects with multiple international partnerships. Following completion of two post-doctoral research fellowships at Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization - International Vaccine Centre (VIDO-InterVac) in Saskatchewan, Canada and the Wellcome Trust Research Program in Kenya. He holds a PhD in Immunology & Vaccine Development from the Royal Veterinary College of the University of London (UK) and a Master of Science also in Immunology from Kenyatta University in Kenya. He is a recognized international expert in mycoplasma diseases of livestock species.
