Mekonnen Girma, a veterinarian by training, is the ILRI Addis Ababa poultry research facility manager. He is working closely with Tropical Poultry Genetics Solutions (TPGS) Program, and he is supporting the Center for Tropical Livestock Genetics and Health (CTLGH) and TPGS scientists, providing technical leadership, coordination, and guidance to their research projects.
Before joining ILRI in 2018, Mekonnen worked at the Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research (EIAR) for five years.
Mekonnen completed his Master of Science in Agriculture from University of South Africa in 2023, and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from Addis Ababa University, College of Veterinary Medicine and Agriculture in 2012.
