Josiah Odaba is a microbiologist with expertise in microbiology, molecular biology, and bacteriophage biology/therapy. He joined ILRI in 2019 as a Research Associate on a One Health project focused on using bacteriophages as an alternative to antibiotics to combat drug-resistant nontyphoidal Salmonella in poultry farms in Kenya. Prior to this, Josiah worked on a project that developed an integrated, cost-effective surveillance and reporting system for 15 zoonotic diseases, piloted in the counties of Bungoma, Busia, and Kakamega in western Kenya. He holds a BSc in Microbiology from the University of Eldoret and is currently pursuing an MSc in Medical Microbiology at Kenyatta University. His ongoing project focuses on harnessing bacteriophages for mastitis prevention in Kenya. #Bacteriophages #AntimicrobialResistance #OneHealth
