Elsa Murano is associate vice chancellor, Strategic Academic Initiatives at Agriculture & Life Sciences at Texas A&M University. She has been director of the Norman Borlaug Institute for International Agriculture & Development at Texas A&M University since 2012. From August 2021 to March of 2022, she was interim associate vice chancellor for Special Initiatives at the university. As a highly qualified professional in agriculture, food science and food safety, Elsa has served in multiple academic, leadership and government capacities. She was undersecretary of Agriculture for Food Safety for the US Department of Agriculture, president of Texas A&M University System, and dean and vice chancellor of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
