From 12-14 July 2024, the CGIAR Initiative on Sustainable Animal Productivity (SAPLING) organized a successful study tour in Tuyen Quang Province in Northwest Vietnam. This event highlighted the progress and potential of sustainable livestock farming in the region. SAPLING has been supporting eight local livestock farmer groups since 2023, enhancing their access to resources, markets, and technical assistance.

A key highlight was the Tien Thanh Cooperative, a successful model in sustainable livestock production, recognized for its achievements and export success. The tour allowed participants to learn from this model and explore effective livestock value chains.

The insights gained from the tour will help local authorities and farmer groups improve their practices and integrate successful strategies into national programs. SAPLING plans to continue supporting the development of livestock strategies in the district, aiming for a more resilient and sustainable future for the sector.
