Jimmy Smith (Canada) joined ILRI as Director General in October 2011.  He has considerable experience in livestock research for development as a CGIAR scientist and in multi and bi lateral donor agencies.  he worked for the World Bank leading the Bank’s Global Livestock Portfolio and held senior positions at the Canadian International Development Agency (now Global Affairs Canada). Earlier in his career, he worked at ILRI and its predecessor, the International Livestock Centre for Africa where he led a regional program and a systemwide initiative on livestock.
