Jesse Gakige is an animal nutritionist, with research interest in reduction of emission intensities from livestock systems in the tropics. Currently, he is focussing on methods to accurately quantify and reduce enteric methane emissions from different feeding systems in Kenya. He is also working to develop emission factors from livestock systems in sub-Saharan Africa, that will support national GHG inventories. At Mazingira center, he is responsible for coordinating animal feeding trials, conducting fieldworks related to GHG emission data collection as well as farmer training. He holds a BSc degree in animal production, MSc degree in animal nutrition both from Egerton university and a PhD degree in animal nutrition from University of Nairobi.
