I am an applied scientist working in sustainable development. I use systems thinking and an integrative approach to tackle complex problems relating to land use, environmental impact, and human welfare. I have an inter-disciplinary background in social and environmental sciences, and am sensitive to the cultural as well as the logical dimensions to problem solving.
I have spent much of the past five years developing a research tool called the Rural Household Multi-Indicator Survey (RHoMIS). The purpose of RHoMIS is to improve ease and efficiency when conducting surveys of farming households, and through repeates use of the tool to build up a harmonised database from many projects all around the world (see www.rhomis.org; https://www.nature.com/articles/s41597-020-0388-8).
My other research interests include the role of personal motivations in technology adoption, poverty dynamics, holistic sustainability assessments, multi-variate visualisations, and the development of user-friendly scientific tools.
